How often are lessons held?
Lessons are weekly, at a recurring time slot. Most are 30 minutes.
Our Vocal Academy offers 3 lessons a month. 45 and 60 minute lessons are recommended for students past their 3rd year.
We do not require students to commit for the semester. Students are free to change lesson times as their schedule requires.
Yes! Under normal circumstances, we offer 2 recitals a year. Recitals are short (under an hour) and informal.
Can I watch the lessons?
Normally, yes! We have ample space in our teaching rooms for parents who want to listen. We also have a comfortable waiting room with couches, and complimentary snacks and beverages for those who prefer a little quiet time.
We have special rates for homeschoolers taking lessons between 11:00 and 3:00 . We don't list homeschool times on our schedule, though, so email us and we can discuss scheduling options.
We recommend that students aim for 4-6 lessons every summer, scheduled around vacations. Summer lessons are not required, but we find that students bounce back very quickly in the fall if they have had a few summer lessons. Students may also continue through the summer with regular lessons if they wish. As a bonus, families that stay on during the summer get to hold their preferred lesson time when fall scheduling rolls around.
Learning takes time!
Students should plan to practice:
30 minutes, 3 times every week, in their first year of study
40 minutes, 3 times every week, in their second year of study
50 minutes, 3 times every week, in their third year of study
Children ages 4-7 should practice 10-15 minutes, four times a week.
High schoolers and serious students should plan to practice 45-60 minutes at least four times a week.
